Statement by the International Solidarity Association for Peace on the occasion of the International Day of Peace – September 21, 2024
On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, celebrated every year on 21 September at the initiative of the United Nations, the Association for International Solidarity for Peace reaffirms its unwavering commitment to a world founded on justice, equality, human dignity, and respect for fundamental rights.
In a global context marked by armed conflicts, forced displacement, rising hate speech, and growing inequalities, we call for peace to be placed at the heart of all public policies—whether local, national, or international.
Peace cannot be achieved without addressing systemic injustices, without the active participation of marginalized communities, and without concrete efforts to ensure human, social, and environmental security. Nations must strengthen mechanisms for conflict prevention and mediation, and civil society must be fully involved in peacebuilding processes.
On this 21 September, we invite citizens around the world to raise their voices for peace and to commit to concrete actions of solidarity and dialogue. Peace is more than an ideal—it is a right.
